Why handcrafts?
Handcrafts have been both a form of artistic expression
and a means of survival and provision since ancient times.
In our fast-paced modern industrial world, many people
have lost the necessary skills (which used to be passed down
from generation to generation), or no longer have the time, motivation,
ability, interest, or patience to learn and practice these crafts.
Handcrafts hold value that commercial and mass-produced products
can never have. They have been individually crafted by hand to be beautiful, unique items, with a purpose - and each has a story to tell.
Hours of dreaming, planning, and labour goes into each individual product, and because of this handcrafts represent character and rich traditions, producing a sense of satisfaction when
created with integrity and made to a high standard.
Who am I?
Who am I?
My name is Holly, and I'm a young aspiring entrepreneur. I love old-fashioned things, I love handcrafts, cooking, baking, playing musical instruments, composing music, farming and gardening.
Ever since I was a small child my mother encouraged me to use my hands to learn useful life skills. I'm thankful she took the time to teach me to cook when I was 5 years old, to bake bread when I was 9 years old, and to sew before I was 10 years old!
During my last years of schooling I had a dream to launch an online handcrafts store selling doll clothes, but as time went on the dream grew bigger until I finally decided to add to my own handcrafts by sourcing handcrafts from other skilled crafters. This enables me to expand the selection of products available to my customers into the collections available for purchase at Willow Ranch today.
I am a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, and my love for God and desire to please Him is at the core of my life. Much of my inspiration to create and sell handcrafts comes from God's Word, especially His description of the virtuous woman found in Proverbs 31:
"Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies...
She seeketh wool, and flax,
and worketh willingly with her hands...
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good:
her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle,
and her hands hold the distaff...
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it;
and delivereth girdles unto the merchant."
