Recipe: Cheesy Eggy Toasties


This dish is great made and eaten straight away - or made ahead of time to take on a picnic! This is based on my grandmother's recipe - she used to make it when my mother was young.


The Ingredients

Use either shop-bought or home-made bread in this recipe - both are delicious!


Cheesy Eggy Toasties

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bread

  • Butter

  • 6 eggs

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp season-all or seasoning mix

  • 1 - 1½ cups grated cheese


Directions:


  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a deep baking tray with paper.

  2. Spread each piece of bread with a good amount of butter and place each slice butter-side down on the tray.

  3. Whisk together eggs, salt, season-all or seasoning mix, and cheese in a medium mixing bowl.

  4. Pour egg mixture evenly over the bread, spreading the cheese where necessary.

  5. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until golden.

  6. Cut around each slice of bread to separate. Enjoy! Leftovers may be reheated wrapped in paper and foil in a griller or eaten cold.

Serves: 2-3
