No need to buy canned spaghetti anymore - just make it at home! This is altered from my grandmother's recipe... And it's so healthy and delicious!
The Ingredients
Any kind of pasta can be used in this recipe - of course, to be traditional, you should use spaghetti, but I used macaroni as I don't prefer the long strands of spaghetti.
Homemade "Canned" Spaghetti

Ingredients:
250g pasta
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter
1 red onion, diced small
150g bacon, diced
1 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp tomato sauce
700g bottle tomato passata
150g cheese, grated
Directions:
Fill large saucepan with about 1½ litres of water. Add 1 tsp salt, place pan over high heat, and bring to the boil. Once boiling, add pasta and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook until pasta is al dente, about 10 minutes.
While pasta is cooking, melt butter in small saucepan. Add onion and bacon and cook until onion is soft and bacon is cooked.
Add salt, sugar, tomato sauce, and passata to bacon mixture. Cook over low heat until pasta is done.
Once pasta is cooked, drain. Add bacon and tomato mixture and place over medium heat. Add grated cheese, stir well, and cook for a further 2-3 minutes to allow cheese to melt.
Serve and enjoy! Leftovers may be reheated in a small saucepan with a dash of water, stirring constantly.
Cooking time: 30 mins
Serves: 3-4
Definitely going to try this out!
